During the recent Earth Day festival, these people were singing and dancing in Ciutadella park. I suppose they are dressed as Mayans. And I think they had central American accents. Does anyone know more about them?

That's quite brightened my morning. Thanks.
I don't think they're all Mayan, but rather just folks who care about the earth celebrating the earth and having a good time!
Awesome set of pictures, the costume are magnificent, I love the intense colors and details!

I agree with Lowell. Their facial features do not look Mayan. When we visited the Yucatan, local folks would at times identify themselves as Mayan.
To my surprise, during an elaborate dinner show at Xcaret, an eco-theme park, when the performance that depicted the history and culture of the area reached the point where Spanish conquistadors entered on horseback, the audience booed.
I'm not sure Rob, but I do know one thing...those head dresses are fabulous!
I saw Mayan people performing on the streets of Mexico City and they look much more real than these. Nevertheless, the portraits are great.
Wow, now I'm seeing I missed many things on Earth Day...
I don't know if you understand Catalan, so I keep writting in English.
I have a blog where I post a picture a day about something that happened to me that day. So it's kind of similar to yours since Barcelona is featured in my photos many times since I life there from Monday to Friday.
